There’s something about walking the neighborhood

in evening’s waning light, of taking this time

to be present for the changing of the guard, from day

into night. My muscles release the stresses

built up during the day – the work, the care taking,

the decisions that come with each new hour.

For a brief time, I just stand still, and watch

in wonder the immense mystery taking place in the sky.

I love to go for walks in nature. Experiencing and observing the daily and hourly changes in my own neighborhood keeps me in awe of the complexity of our shared world. Learning about life through the creative process, whether it be writing, painting, sculpture, or gardening, helps to keep me grounded and humbled.
