poems and images from daily living
colors overlay – a tapestry
woven high above
the river’s bend
late summer textures
twine with cooler days…the nights
of open windows
Stillness returns –
the moon rises.
Moist air laces with night sounds
as nature slips into
the currents of sleep.
summers heat waning
sapphire blue on velvet sky
bare feet in deep grass
moist air of summer
wings grown weary from travels
rest among cool greens
sharp edges, smooth blue
golden leaves against
complementary hue
night brushes
soft strokes among the flowers –
their faces to the moon
Lengthening shadows
pair with sheltering branches –
the hush of a hawk.
Swaying in the breeze,
translucent petals, backlit
fired to radiance.
Follow cloud reflections
around the curve to overarching trees…
and on back to where herons fly,
ranging bright in a cobalt sky.
